The 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500 has a variety of powertrains to choose from, depending on configuration and trim level. The 2.7L TurboMax four-cylinder engine is available with rear-wheel or four-wheel drive, producing 310 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque. Want an alternative? Try the 3.0L Duramax Turbo-Diesel inline-six, also available with rear-wheel or four-wheel drive. It's capable of 305 hp and a stunning 495 lb-ft of torque. If you want a beefier gas engine, you can choose between the 6.2L or 5.3L V8; the 5.3L V8 produces 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque and is available with the same rear-wheel or four-wheel drive option; the 6.2L, on the other hand, is only offered with four-wheel drive and reaches 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque.
Again, depending on your trim level and configuration, your transmission will be different: the 3.0L Duramax Turbo-Diesel, the 5.3L V8, and the 6.2L V8 are paired with a ten-speed automatic transmission; if you decide you want the 2.7L Turbo, you'll be getting an eight-speed automatic transmission. Both are excellent options, so your preference will depend on where you plan to drive the most.
Similarly, the fuel economy rating for the Chevy Silverado 1500 depends on which powertrain and trim level you choose. If you go with the Trail Boss, your truck will have a fuel economy lower than the other trims but perform better off-road than any others. If you elect to have the base engine with rear-wheel drive, you'll get a rating of 19 MPG in the city and 22 MPG on the highway; four-wheel drive nets 18 MPG in the city and 21 MPG on the highway. Meanwhile, the Trail Boss trim receives 17 MPG in the city and 18 MPG on the highway.
Though there are varied results, none of them are far enough apart to make a large difference, so if you've been wanting to try out a larger powertrain, don't let that deter you. Gas tanks also can be configured larger or smaller to suit your needs, from 28.3 gallons for the Regular Cab and 24.0 gallons for the Double Cab and Crew Cab.
The 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500 comes in the following trim levels: Work Truck, Custom, Custom Trail Boss, LT, RST, LT Trail Boss, ZR2, LTZ, and High Country.
